My interest in art and design has led me down many different roads in my life, as far as my career is concerned. Without the exposure I would never have come across the learning opportunities that have shaped me into the person I am today. Several of these learning opportunities have come out of owning a small design business, running my art gallery, and learning + teaching with design students. From this I have learned how to interact with people in large groups, as well as one on one. I have also seen the importance of empathy, because you cannot fully understand what others have gone through in their life experiences. I try and avoid judging or underestimate others, because you may need their help some day.

In the beginning I believed design was to make things easier to use or understand. Now I feel design plays a more important role in shaping the world around us by creating social impact. Whether it be exposing injustice or making people aware of harm to the environment the planet that future generations will inherit, I strive to make a positive change in the world through my craft as a designer.

In my spare time, I enjoy being outside with my family. I want my children to understand the benefits of the great outdoors and learn a sense of responsibility for it, which they seem to understand at some level when we go hiking with our dogs. I also enjoy cooking for them. I am looking forward to a time in life where I will be able to travel more with them too.
